Area of Responsibility: Joel is Head of Advanced Sales for MassMutual's Strategic Distributors distribution channel. Joel is responsible for leading a team of highly-trained advanced sales attorneys and case designers who help third-party distributors develop solutions for their clients using MassMutual's life and disability insurance products. Joel also represents MMSD at industry and distributor meetings and events to help build MMSD brand image and awareness.

Career History: Prior to joining MassMutual, Joel was an Advanced Planning Consultant for New York Life in their Advanced Planning Group. There, he served agents in the Chinese cultural market by helping identify and develop large life insurance sales opportunities among their high-net-worth prospects. Before New York Life, Joel spent several years in private practice as an attorney with an emphasis on tax planning and business development and had worked as an agent and registered representative in the financial services industry. Experienced as both an advisor and practicing attorney, Joel has expertise in estate planning, business planning, and wealth transfer.

Education: Joel earned his B.A. degree in Speech Communication from the University of Nebraska and his J.D. from Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, NE. He is admitted to the State Bar of Nebraska and is pursuing a Master of Laws degree in Taxation from Boston University School of Law. He has professional proficiency in Mandarin Chinese.
